Modular Construction

Maat Feeling Home

Maat Feeling Home is a Dutch family-owned manufacturer of modular housing with over 50 years of experience. From engineering to fully finished homes, everything is produced in-house in Sliedrecht.

To meet growing demand without expanding their factory footprint, Maat redesigned its production process into a line-based setup — requiring a smarter internal transport solution.

The challenge

Maat Feeling Home faced a strategic growth challenge: increase production capacity without expanding the factory floor space.

The ambition was clear — produce significantly more modular units per year within the same footprint. To achieve this, Maat transitioned to a structured line-based production process where modules move step-by-step through different workstations.

This transition created a new internal logistics requirement. Modular units needed to move reliably between Factory A and Factory B without disrupting throughput.

The transport solution had to handle variations in module size and weight, integrate smoothly into daily operations, and support a continuous production rhythm. Traditional methods would not offer the flexibility and efficiency required.

Our approach

Aerofilm Systems developed a custom air caster transport solution tailored to Maat’s modular workflow. The focus from day one was practicality, flexibility, and seamless integration into the line-based production environment.

After delivery, an Aerofilm application specialist supported the on-site implementation. The system was configured and fine-tuned together with Maat’s production team to ensure it performed exactly as required. The specialist remained on-site until operations ran smoothly and reliably.

The air caster system allows modular units of varying dimensions and weights to move safely and effortlessly across the factory floor. Its built-in flexibility perfectly matches Maat’s diverse product range and evolving production layout.

Internal transport shifted from being a potential constraint to becoming a fully integrated and dependable element of the production process.

The result

The impact was immediate and measurable. With Aerofilm’s air caster solution, Maat Feeling Home increased production capacity from 300–400 modules per year to 500–600 modules per year — without expanding the factory footprint.

Beyond the numbers, the company achieved a smoother production flow, greater flexibility in module handling, and reliable transport between production halls. The collaboration between both teams ensured the system aligned perfectly with operational requirements.
