The challenge

Heijmans faced the complex challenge of establishing a new modular housing factory from scratch. The ambitious goal: produce one affordable, sustainable home per day, using both 2D and heavy 3D modules weighing up to 5 metric tons each.

Traditional transport methods were inflexible, costly and insufficiently safe for rapid internal logistics. The factory required a sustainable, cost-efficient and scalable solution that would seamlessly integrate into their production process without compromising safety or productivity.

Our approach

We collaborated closely with Heijmans. Designing innovative air caster pallets with an intuitive auto-leveling system.

Operators simply connect an air hose and open a valve, effortlessly moving modules weighing up to 5 metric tons. Equipped with six air casters per pallet, the system provided exceptional safety, reliability and flexibility.

This solution allowed precise, easy positioning of modules, significantly improved ergonomics and optimized process efficiency. By integrating this tailored system, Heijmans achieved rapid module transportation aligned perfectly with their ambitious sustainability goals.

Heijmans successfully realized an advanced, safe and highly efficient modular production process. The implementation of our custom air caster technology enabled daily housing production, reduced operator strain and substantially enhanced production scalability.
