Air and water casters are ideal for moving extremely heavy weights. Transformers, ships and parts of ships such as azipods, cable baskets and other weights up to millions of pounds have been moved and positioned with air or water casters for years.
By creating a wafer-thin film (water or air) between your transformer, cable basket or ship and the floor, the whole thing floats. This allows it to be moved almost frictionless in all horizontal directions and allows for highly accurate positioning.
With other techniques it becomes difficult and often very expensive to move extreme weights. Air and water casters offer an economical solution and there is no limit to the weight that can be moved. Where wheels exert a high line pressure on the surface, air or water casters divide it over a larger area (the surface of the casters), to make sure that point or line loads no longer occur.
